Some home truths

I'm going to cut and paste a post I wrote in a forum this morning. The question in the thread asked how we motivate ourselves to stay on track and keep to the weight-loss program.

Two things in the posts above have been absolue revelations to me in the past couple of weeks.

Don't give yourself a day off or a weekend off for an event - have the event off
plan and then get back to it at the next meal. Only do this rarely.

This was my downfall last time I did Tony Ferguson - I'd go to a wedding or there would be an event where I knew I would stray and I'd be okay with that "we all need a break sometime" etc. But I'd find that I'd then think "well, I'm going to be off the plan tonight, I may as well have an indulgent lunch". And then the next day ... "I'm out of ketosis, so I may as well eat xxx today, I'll start again tomorrow". And on it would go.This time around, I had one slip-up, and was straight back onto the program - not the next day, but five minutes after I'd had the 'forbidden food'. This mas made a world of difference to my thinking, believe it or not!

One thing that helped me lose my weight was deciding food was only food. So
whether it be a salad, vege, soup, shake or greasy hamburger - it's ONLY food.

Something else I decided just a few days ago. I remember my step-dad saying when we were kids: "you eat to live, not live to eat". And I think there are more than a lot of times in the last few years where I have lived to eat - I really would be just thinking about what I was going to eat next, just after I'd already eaten. So what if I have the same salad for lunch at work each day? It's food - food that my body needs for fuel, and nothing else. Since I've had this revelation, I really have found it easier!
